If you’re an NRI purchasing property with House of SR, the following documents will be required:
A Power of Attorney (PoA) in favour of a trusted person residing in India to manage legal and financial formalities on your behalf
Your PAN Card (mandatory for property transactions)
A copy of your passport (if PAN is not yet available)
An NRE or NRO bank account to complete transactions with House of SR
Who is NRI?
A NRI (Non-Resident Indian) is an Indian citizen who lives or works outside India for an indefinite period, usually for employment, business, or other professional purposes.
Who is PIO?
A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) is someone who previously held an Indian passport, or whose parents or grandparents were Indian citizens under the Constitution of India or the Citizenship Act, 1955.
Can an NRI buy immovable property in India?
Yes. As per the general permission granted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), an NRI can purchase immovable property in India without any special approval or difficulty.
Can an PIO buy immovable property in India?
Yes, a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) is eligible to purchase property in India.
Can an NRI receive or give a residential property as a gift?
Yes, an NRI can receive or give property as a gift to an Indian citizen or a Person of Indian Origin (PIO).
Can an NRI get loan for purchasing a property in India?
Certain institutions such as LIC Housing Finance Ltd. and HDFC have been given general permission to offer home loans to NRIs.
Can an NRI buy Commercial Property in India?
Yes, NRIs can buy property in India, except agricultural land, plantation property and farmhouses.
